How to Get a Salon Blow-Out at Home

You all know that wonderful feeling of walking out of the salon with gorgeously blown-out hair.  You feel like you’re in a hair commercial as you walk down the street and pray that it will last through your dinner plans that night (and maybe even the next night too!).  But no matter how hard you try, you just cannot get the same results at home.

To help us all out with this dilemma, Alanna Peterkin, owner of Head Games Salon for Hair & Body, tells us how to get that salon blow-out at home with these quick and easy steps.  Here’s to a great hairday!

1.  Start by drying the hair with your fingers until it is 80%-90% dry.

2.  Pull hair up into 3-4 sections starting at the crown.  Leave the bottom section down & blow dry using a concentrator, in the direction of the hair growth.

3.  You may add body by rolling the hair around the brush and heating with the blowdryer, which creates a very loose curl or bend at the ends.  Be careful not to roll the brush up too far as it will create tangles.

4.  If your blowdryer has a cool setting, use it to cool  the hair while it is still rolled around the brush.

5.  When the bottom section is dry, remove the clip & begin the next section.  Continue section by section until complete.

6.  Use the cool setting to smooth the cuticle layer of the hair.  This adds lots of shine & will help your blowout last longer.
