Dreamy Shopping at Dahlia’s World

As a parent of two kids under age 5, I love shopping children’s resale. Who among us wouldn’t get a thrill discovering a little girl’s Lily Pulitzer shift dress for less than $10? Or new, L.L.Bean boy’s swim shorts for $5.00? If these great finds get covered in chocolate ice cream, which is a regular occurrence at my house, no big deal. There’s something freeing about not paying full price.

So where can a parent find such fabulous buys?  Dahlia’s World in South Portland is perfect for eco- and budget-conscious moms and dads searching for fashionable clothes, shoes, and accessories for infants through kids’ size 10.

The resale shop has a boutique feel without the high prices. During a recent visit, I discovered this handsome, denim shirt with great detail for $4.50.

I also found these like new, boys’ madras sneakers from the Gap.

If you’re searching for summer party dresses, Dahlia’s World carries high-end, children’s brands like Zutano, Tea and Misha Lulu.

The shop also sells work from local artisans and supports non-profits like Project G.R.A.C.E. – a Scarborough-based organization that helps families in need.

Dahlia’s World owner Ashleigh Bill takes great pride in her shop, and her attention to detail shows. As a mother, Bill knows it can be challenging to shop with little ones. The store offers a play area for children, so parents can browse at their leisure. On weekends, families can visit for craft time and Baby Signing classes.

Great style, amazing prices and a play space—if you ask me, shopping at Dahlia’s World is a parent’s dream.
