Madgirl 2010 Fall Runway Show Recap

Here in Maine, it’s almost as if we are born loving flannel, plaid, camouflage & hunter orange.  It just fits our lifestyle, it makes sense.  But it was Saturday night’s Madgirl runway show at the Port City Music Hall that revamped our long-established hunter prints into chic runway looks and left us all wanting to see more.  Before the show even started, there was excitement in the air – pure anticipation.  Inside the music hall, the mood was set with deer heads, plaid couches with accents of fur, and even statue-like models.  The show was titled “Out of the Maine Woods: hunt. prey. lust.” – and rightfully so.

From the first runway look to the very last, the audience’s attention was captured.  The energy on the runway was contagious – both men and women rocked the re-worked hunter’s plaid, camo and vintage L.L.Bean boots while keeping things fun and sassy (much like the clothes they were wearing)!  Portland eco-fashion designer Meredith Alex dressed her models in fishnet stockings, fur hats and bright orange accessories, creating drama among the classic Maine prints.

Madgirl’s 2010 Fall Runway Collection captured Maine’s aesthetic in a non-traditional, high-fashion way.  Days before the show, Alex stated in the Portland Press Heraldthat she was “hoping to blow everyone’s minds…” and she achieved just that.  Way to go Madgirl – thanks for the great show!
