There is something very exciting being planned in the Portland fashion scene and MainelyMara is proud to be a part of it.  A very special event is taking place on May 21st – a city-wide clothing swap called SWAPmaine.  This first-ever Portland clothing swap is being organized by some of the coolest & most popular bloggers in town – Alexandra Munier (Broke207), Laura Serino (Fore Front Fashion), Ashley Jordan (Sweet William), Laura LeBrun (sweeter salt) and Kate Sullivan Jones (Sweet Disorder).

What’s a clothing swap, you may ask?  It’s actually quite simple – attendees bring a bag of clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc. and then leave with a bag of clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc. that is NEW to them!  So it’s basically what you do with your girlfriends (“You can have this & I’ll take that”), but on a much larger scale.  Clothing swaps are a hot trend in cities across the nation, so it’s only natural that Portland will follow. So start cleaning out your closets and putting bags aside for SWAPmaine on May 21^st.  (Hint, hint – if you drop off a bag before the event, entrance to the swap is totally FREE!  Check the SWAPmaine website for further details).  The swap will be held from 11am – 4pm at one of our favorite salons – Head Games Salon for Hair & Body – they’ll be tons of fabulous swag from other favorite local businesses. The best part is, all of the proceeds and leftover donations go to one of our sponsors – Good Will of Northern New England.  So it’s a total win-win – you score amazing new wardrobe pieces and support a great cause.
