What’s In My Bag? Fore Front Fashion

Spotted: Laura, a native New Yorker, snapping photos of a dapper Mainer equipped with plaid shirt, wool scarf, and in true Portland style, two almost matching socks. This is a typical day for Laura and Nate (the man behind the lens) as they capture Portland’s unique street style in the recently nominated “Best Blog,” Fore Front Fashion.
We were itching to see exactly what this style seeker carries around in one of her favorite vintage bags. She’s as fun as her blog, carrying everything from lint removing sheets to L.L.Bean hand lotion.
Forget Me Not
Laura told us she has a knack for losing wallets (poor thing!), so she always buys bold colorful ones – big enough to hold both her keys and Blackberry, but bright enough not to forget. We love her vibrant choices and the fact that she’ll never be spotted with basic brown or black.
Local Vintage Treasures
“I always carry around extra necklaces and scarves in my bag. I just throw one on in the evening and it instantly updates my look. My absolute favorite place to buy jewelry in the summer is the Arundel Flee Market.” Also catching our eye was Laura’s silver “sequiny” coin purse. Once an old cigarette pouch scored from Encore on Congress Street, it’s now used to hold all her loose coins – a smart and stylish way to avoid unnecessary parking tickets!
Blogger Essentials
Laura never leaves home without her trusty notebook where she constantly writes down her ideas and future plans for her blog. This is no exaggeration – she admits to going through “about 8 notepads a week!” Along with her notebook, we love that she carries her Flip Video around – the perfect tool for capturing Fore Front’s popular closet tours!
Shady Lady
“I’m a major sunglasses collector! Along with my bag, it’s something that I switch out a lot.” Laura confesses that she uses a jewelry rack at home to hang her large assortment of shades – genius idea!
