Bring Back the Thank You Note

In our high-tech world of texts, emails, tweets & posts, an old-fashioned handwritten thank you note is hard to come by.  A job interview thank you comes to your Inbox rather than your mailbox, and a “thanks for the present” is a post seen by your 842 friends.  Even though it’s only a small piece of paper, a thank you note can say a lot about your style, which is something your latest tweet could never do.

So this holiday season, take a break from the keyboard, pick up a pen, and write down your sentiments instead.  It’s time to bring back the thank you note.

One of the many things I love about the Old Port is that you won’t find a CVS or Walgreens on every (or any) corner.  So when shopping for unique & stylish thank you notes, you don’t have to settle for a generic Hallmark box set.  Instead, make your way over to Papier Gourmet on Free Street, where you’ll find the best assortment of stationery to suit your style.  You can even customize your own notes to your heart’s desire (monograms, initials… you name it).

If you’re looking for something funkier, pop into Ferdinand in the East End, where they design and manufacture their own cards & stationery sets (they are the wittiest cards you’ve ever read).

At either shop, you’ll find the kind of thank you notes the recipient can’t bear to throw away and will save in a box forever.
