DIANA:
eBay Score - As always, the first thing to discuss in any “What’s In My Bag?” interview is the bag itself. From the coy smile on Diana’s face, I knew her Louis Vuitton had a story. With a “go ahead” nod from her pal Sarah, Diana said “Why not? I may as well own it!” and confessed that her Louis was an eBay score! Diana admitted she’s too frugal to spend the full retail price, and being the eBay connoisseur that she is, she found this 100% real (and gorgeous) bag that she’s carried ever since.
Classic Gal - Inside her timeless Louis, Diana carries pretty classic items you’d find in any gal’s bag – tons of bobby pins (can’t have those gorgeous locks falling in her face on camera!), a couple of hand lotions for dry winter skin, a pair of sunglasses, and a few lipglosses. This threw us off, because Diana always looks so pretty & put-together on camera, so we had to ask where she hid all of her other beauty/makeup products?! “My makeup is a whole other beast that wouldn’t come close to fitting in this bag!” Off-camera, however, Diana’s makeup routine is very simple – just some lipgloss and she is good to go.
They’re Just Like Us - Peeking out from the top of Diana’s bag was the all-too-familiar US Weekly magazine. After diving into a conversation of whether Kim Kardashian’s wedding was real or fake, Diana had no problem admitting that she & Sarah exchange this celebrity bible weekly. Being our news providers, they have to be in-the-know! In fact, Diana’s husband gets her a subscription to the magazine every Valentine’s Day. What a guy!
An Apple a Day – A picture-perfect apple was amongst the items in Diana’s bag – complete with a tiny green leaf and all. This wasn’t just for show…Diana has actually been craving apples during her pregnancy. Throwing an apple in her bag has helped Diana satisfy those cravings, and also maintain her healthy lifestyle during this exciting time. She frequents two favorite local spots for her workout routine – Portland Power Yoga and Planet Fitness.
SARAH:
A “Fancy” Bag…Finally - Although great friends, Sarah & Diana couldn’t be more different when it comes to bag preferences. As Diana was scouting Louis Viuttons on eBay, up until a couple years ago, Sarah didn’t even carry a purse! “I’ve just never been into carrying a bag,” says Sarah. All of her girlfriends made fun of her, so she finally got pressured into it and purchased her first “fancy” bag - an amazing Orla Kiely tote - which she fell in love with as soon as she saw it. Its iconic Orla Kiely pattern and durable coated canvas make it the perfect go-to bag that can go everywhere with Sarah. And she finally has a bag she’s proud to show off her girlfriends. (We hope you’re reading this!)
World Traveler – A huge lover of traveling, Sarah keeps little mementos from all of her trips in her bag so she’ll always be reminded of her travels. From her Banana Republic wallet (in a very on-trend mustard yellow, we must add) that she got during her 10 year anniversary trip to Montreal, to her bright orange reusable shopping bag she picked up on her trip to Japan, she has both national & international representation in her bag. ”I love finding everyday things.” Even her bag itself was purchased at a weather conference in Madison, Wisconsin!
Jot in Down - In our world of smartphones and tablets, it was so refreshing to see a regular “old-fashioned” notebook in Sarah’s bag. Even more refreshing was to hear that Sarah uses the notebook to write down inspirational quotes that “brighten her day.” Some other treasures in Sarah’s bag were an adorable compact mirror given to her by her husband and a reusable treat bag filled with dark chocolate salted caramels (yum!).
Weather or Not - One thing we thought was missing from this meteorologist’s bag – an umbrella! Is it cliche to think Sarah would always be prepared for any weather situation? When we asked her this, Sarah confessed that everything weather-related is in the back of her car. And in there, she says, she is fully prepared with everything from umbrellas to fleece jackets to snow pants. Now that sounds more like the meteorologist we know! Some hints of the weather conscious gal was hiding in her bag, however, with an adorable pen that reads “Pale is the new tan” and sunscreen (which she carries & wears always).
