What’s In My Bag? June Usher
June Usher, Branch Manager of Bangor Savings Bank newest branch on Middle Street, pours out her bag for MainelyMara.
Whoever said bankers were boring and unstylish hasn’t met June Usher. She stepped into MainelyMara’s offices looking like the picture perfect corporate fashionista. And after she let us take a look in her bag, we’ve decided this gal has to be the most stylish & put-together banker in town.
Buy Local – June has been working downtown for almost 5 years, so she is a local gal through & through. She loves Portland and it shows in her bag. She has products from all of the local shops around Middle Street. “I love supporting the little community of businesses around my branch – Akari, Bliss, Blanche & Mimi, Bard Coffee.” June doesn’t just stick to Middle Street, though, as she also carries her ipod in a stylish Ponomo “squeeze wallet” and a keyring class card to the ever-popular yoga spot – Greener Postures.
Secret Santa Score – During the holidays, June and her family celebrate with a Secret Santa gift exchange. Most of the time, Secret Santa presents are the ones you end up re-gifting the following year. Not last year, when June scored this great bag and has been carrying it ever since. A great “summer into fall” transition bag, it’s perfectly on-trend with its ladylike top handle and cross-body option. “I love the cream color because it goes with both black & brown,” and being the busy corporate gal that she is, June doesn’t have time to constantly switch her bag to coordinate with every outfit.
Beauty’s in the Bag – Every girl keeps some sort of beauty product in her bag, either for emergencies or everyday use. June’s bag has the perfect assortment of these products – and for good reason. June is very involved in Portland’s business community (she’s on the board of both Portland’s Downtown District and Propel), so she wants to make sure she looks her best at all hours of the day/evening. Her favorite go-to beauty touch-up is Bumble & Bumble’s hair tonic from Akari. “It’s a great refresher to use from work to an event, or from the gym to Whole Foods. I keep one in my purse and one in my gym bag.” Some of June’s other beauty necessities include Rosebud Salve balm & hand lotion from Blanche & Mimi, a hair clip from Bliss, and the basics – lip gloss and hair elastics.
Manicure Maven – Working with customers at her branch, June’s nails take center stage every day, so she always has a perfect manicure. Her choice for the day we met? Merino Cool by Essie, June’s favorite fall color, which she keeps in her bag for quick touch-ups. “I’m a color girl when it comes to my nails.” She recently purchased two new fall shades from Akari after reading about them in their Fall Newsletter.
