What’s In My Bag? Rebecca Falzano
What does one of the top magazine editors in the city tote in her bag? Managing Editor of Maine Home+Design, Rebecca Falzano, lets MainelyMara take a peek.
When a large package arrived at Rebecca’s office one random afternoon, she didn’t know what to expect. She actually hadn’t ordered anything. What she pulled out was a brand new Marc Jacobs hobo bag with a note from her husband that read “Rebecca, stop being a hobo.”
Every Bag Has A Story – Before Rebecca could start using her gorgeous new bag, she had to say a bittersweet goodbye to her old one. When it comes to bags, boots and coats, Rebecca invests in pieces she’ll get years of use out of. (In other words: “I tend to wear things into the ground or until they completely disintegrate.”) Her previous bag went everywhere with her for 4 years, and it showed (think: worn straps and peeling leather). Her amazing new Marc Jacobs was the exact bag she had been eyeing for months. Can you say Sweetest. Husband. Ever? The bag is the coolest mix of brown & grey (so it goes with anything), it has a cross-body strap, and the best part – a fun pop lining when you peek inside.
The Essentials –Rebecca spends a lot of time on location for her job, traveling the state to visit the gorgeous homes you see in the magazine. She totes all of her work essentials in her hobo – an iphone, which also doubles as her camera for scouting houses for the magazine, a moleskin notebook (she prefers bright colors to black), and her “trusty saving grace” – a digital recorder.
The Write Way – Among Rebecca’s work essentials is a classic planner. Yes, planner, like the “old-fashioned” pen & paper planners we all used to write our homework assignments in. Rebecca is still very analog when it comes to her busy calendar. “There’s just something about writing it down,” she says, and she loves the compact size of her cerulean blue planner.
Chance of Showers – You know you’re a fashionista when you don’t carry a basic black umbrella. It was raining when Rebecca came by and she stayed dry with a cute houndstooth umbrella. Rebecca couldn’t tell us where she purchased it, as it was “acquired” at an outdoor concert years ago. In a mad dash when it started pouring, she accidentally grabbed the wrong umbrella (but admitted she was pretty happy with her choice).
For Good Measure – Out of all of the stylish items in Rebecca’s bag (classic Ray Ban wayfarers, metallic clamshell wallet), one thing seemed a bit out of place – a yellow tape measure. Rebecca & her husband are proud new home owners, so they are always on the lookout for furniture, fixtures & the less glamorous necessities for their new abode. Tired of asking “Is that going to fit?” Rebecca started carrying around a tape measure for all of their home shopping trips. Brilliant!
Tea Time – Being a self-proclaimed “tea-aholic”, Rebecca always has a tin of tea in her bag (she even has 2 full drawers of tea in her new kitchen!). Her choice for the day when we met – a local tea called “A Kiss from a Rose” from Bar Harbor Tea Company.
THANK YOU to Rebecca for pouring out her bag for MainelyMara…here’s to many great years with your new Marc Jacobs!
